"Life is Short, Make It Sweet!" The Sweet Palace is the grandest emporium of candies beyond imagination in the Pacific Northwest! Chocolate and fresh fudge aromas greet you even before you step inside this palace. Enjoy a delightful time filling a candy basket choosing from over 1,100 sweet tooth choices that include seventy-two flavors of freshly-made salt water taffy, homemade fudges, hand-dipped chocolates with caramel, nuts, and cream centers, cordials, hard candies from all over the world, and... chocolate truffles made with beer! Watch salt water taffy pulled and wrapped the old-fashioned way. They also offer "sugar-free!" treats. View a variety of collections, artifacts and presentations that preserve & present Granite County's history & heritage, and unify the present community. The gift shop carries a wide variety of books about Philipsburg's historic mining, ranching, and ghost towns, as well as novelty items and historic photographic prints. As you browse the museum watch for photos with an "Available for Print" notation. The Montana Law Enforcement Museum is dedicated to preserving and displaying the history of all Montana Law Enforcement with hundreds of items on display. Montana law enforcement officials want to learn and know the history by displaying numerous items that tell the story of law enforcement from the earliest times. The Museum was established as a non-profit, and continues that way today. The Museum is all volunteer from the Board of Directors to the staff at the Museum. The Museum is open to the public and admission is FREE! Donations help keep the doors open for visitors to enjoy the history of law enforcement, so be sure to help. Alpine Skiing & Snowboarding At Its Best
Discovery Ski Area is an alpine ski area just 20 minutes away from Philipsburg. Situated on Rumsey and Jubilee mountains, the area consists of four different faces and provides for beginner groomed runs to expert bowl skiing. Discovery offers double diamond back slopes as well as gentler, groomed trails for the less adventurous skiers & snowboarders. Several groomed and ungroomed cross-country ski trails are located around the ski area. Amenities include a rental shop, the "Tap 'er Lite Bar," and a café. They offer season passes and full or half-day tickets. Snow enthusiasts enjoy a 2,200 acre skiable area with seventy (70) trails, and 47" average snow depth. Five triple, two double, and one surface lift carry skiers from a base elevation of 6,480 feet to a top elevation of 8,158 feet. Discovery Ski Area gets an average annual snowfall of 130" of snow per year and on average has 45 annual snowfall days.
